Hispanic Studies
The aims of this course are to communicate effectively in Spanish across a complete range of tenses and moods and to participate competently in conversation using the target language with a native speaker. The course equips students for the future year abroad programme in Year Three of the degree in Hispanic Studies. It will also expand students’ understanding of Hispanic culture as this relates to the Spanish language.
23-24 SN1105: Journeys of Identity
Hispanic Studies
This course is intended to introduce students to some of the major works, artists and writers in the Hispanic world. The theme is journeys of identity. It is taught in one term only, with two hour weekly seminars.
23-24 SN1109: Discovery, Subversion and Destruction in the Hispanic World
Hispanic Studies
The course provides a selective but wide-ranging introduction to culture in the Hispanic world from the 15th to the 21th century. It explores a broad range of cultural manifestations from different socio-historical contexts both independently and comparatively from a topic-based perspective.
